Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell was a television personality, a former chef at the Institute of Culinary Education and previously taught cooking. She's the host of Secrets of a Restaurant Chef on the Food Network and the co-host of Worst Cooks in America. With her trademark spiky blond hair and pumped-up personality Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of eating out and offers simple, easy-to-learn techniques to cook at home on her Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell has worked in many of the best restaurants in New York, studied the culinary landscape and traditions of Italy, and battled in the Food Network's Iron Chef America. While living in the the upstate area of New York, Burrell became passionate about food and cooking. The Culinary Institute of America was the next stage for her following her graduation with the Bachelor of Arts in English and Communication at Canisius College Buffalo NY. The Culinary Institute of America was an amazing opportunity for me. The Culinary Institute of the Americas was an excellent opportunity to pursue a degree. After graduating, Burrell spent one year learning in the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners and worked in Umbria's La Taverna del Lupo as well as Tuscany's La Bottega del 30, an Michelin-starred restaurant. When she was in Italy the chef gained an appreciation and understanding of Italian food. This had an enormous impact on how she views food. Burrell is a well-known ambassador of the Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation and was a part of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board that assists kids with disabilities. As a guest speaker and teacher she travels across the United States to discuss her passion for cooking as well as her career. Anne has, through her whole cooking journey, has said that it is a privilege to have the opportunity to be able to share this love of food with other people.
