ALEX MORGAN BIO

Morgan was born to Pamela Morgan (age 30) and Michael Morgan on July 2 1989. They raised her and her sisters, Jeni and Jeri, in the Los Angeles suburb of Diamond Bar. Morgan was multisport in her youth, but she only discovered soccer at 14. She became a member of the Cypress Elite club team, winning the Coast Soccer League under-16 championship and finishing in third in the under-19 bracket. Morgan continued to refine her soccer skills at Diamond Bar High School. National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) picked Morgan as an All-American Athlete. She also participated in the Olympic Development Division's state and regional divisions. Morgan continued her career in soccer in UC Berkeley. UC Berkeley. She led the California Golden Bears team's scoring in her debut season. She was instrumental in bringing the team to the NCAA Tournament every year and twice making it to the second round. Morgan was one of the four finalists in the Honda Sports Award. This was the first time she was one of the Hermann Trophy finalists to be ranked at the top of the list. Morgan completed her studies at Berkeley in the first semester of 2010, and was ranked as the third best player among the top scorers of all time in goals, points and assists. Morgan was able manage soccer careers at the national and college levels throughout her studies. The first time she was on the Berkeley team, Morgan experienced an ACL injury that stopped her from training with the U.S. under-20 women's soccer team until April. She scored her debut international goal in Mexico at the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship. Morgan was also a part of the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup which she scored four goals while winning her team the gold medal among other accolades.Morgan was later absorbed into the senior national team, for which she substituted and scored several crucial goals. One of them was a win goal against Italy, which helped earn the U.S. a place in the 2011 World Cup. Morgan was the youngest player of the team, and he helped it win against France. Morgan was the team's youngest player and was the one who led them to victory over Japan.
