Padma Lakshmi Bio
Padma Parvati Lakshmi (born September 1st 1970) was born in Chennai. Lakshmi's parents split at the age two. Her mother fled India to escape the stigma of divorce in India and emigrated to the United States. Lakshmi lived with her maternal grandparents in Chennai for two years before moving with her mother to the United States. Her parents divorced later and she has a younger half brother and half sister from her father. Lakshmi, whose last name means the Hindu goddess of prosperity, wealth and success, was born in New York. She then was raised by her stepfather and mother in Los Angeles. She would return to India for a short period of time every year to visit relatives. Padma Lakshmi began to be attracted to acting in 1999. She appeared in "Figlio of Sandokan" which was an Italian Pirate movie. Next she was given the role of "Caraibi" (Pirates Blood Brothers), which is a drama about 17th-century pirates.
